You think you would have managed in Nature.
You do not know what Nature was.
In Nature there was nothing between his strength and your body: no law, agreement, wall, witness, or person who would come when you said no.
After the act he could rise and walk away.
Nothing held him.
You remained with everything.
With a pregnancy that could not be ended without risking your life.
With a body growing heavier when you still had to run.
With childbirth in blood and darkness.
With a child at the breast when hunger came.
Carry it to term. Give birth. Survive, or not.
Nature knew no third way.
He could do everything. You could do nothing.
This is how the animal arrangement works.
The male can take and leave.
He does not have to return, build, keep watch or look back.
No one on the whole earth had the physical strength to stop him.
He stopped himself.
He decided that your no would mean something.
The word of the weaker gained force when the stronger ordered himself to listen.
The first law of the world did not restrain the weak. The strong one wrote it against himself.
No one compelled him to build a home, stay after the act, feed the body carrying the pregnancy, or keep watch beside what he could leave at dawn.
He chose to stay.
He chose to build.
He chose to carry what Nature did not force him to carry.
He did it of his own will.
And now a question for you, Woman.
Do you understand that he still does not have to do everything?
That what he gives you is not a natural debt written into his body?
Or do you treat the roof, the labor and the protection as something automatically owed — his duty rather than his decision?
There was never a duty in Nature.
There was only what he could choose to give.
Nothing compelled him. Nothing compels him.
He can.
And you — the man carrying the same body as the one who stopped himself.
Do you know what stopped him?
Not law.
Not fear.
Not weakness.
Something in him chose to stay, build and listen to a word that had no physical force behind it.
That part is still in you.
It was not taken.
It was covered by obligation until you forgot it began as choice.
What changes when you remember that a man’s giving was once a choice, not a duty?
