When safety is built upon war, brotherhood does not arise between men.
Hierarchy does.
Some men must win and others lose.
Some accumulate resources while others labor for them.
Some are named strong, responsible and worthy; others weaker, lesser and defeated.
Difference becomes rank.
A man stops seeing the same origin in another man and begins seeing a rung, obstacle, rival or tool.
The more culture glorified service to family or woman, the further man drifted from his own source — and the more equality between men disappeared.
This hierarchy did not arise from Nature.
It arose from men cut off from Nature and then arranged above and below one another.
A man can win the hierarchy and still lose contact with himself.
He can have position without peace, power without lightness, resources while carrying a war he never released.
He carries family, woman, name, business, wealth, expectations and the hierarchy itself.
He carries a world that often separated him from himself.
He carries it standing and in silence, until the body says what the mouth never did.
Many powerful men have no idea how much strength will return when they stop carrying what cuts them off from the source.
Victory inside the hierarchy does not create a brother to whom victory can be told.
What did victory give you if no brother could stand beside it?
